KUALA LUMPUR, NOV 24: Shah Alam Member of Parliament Khalid Samad was attacked by rioters when he approached the Parliament building today.

He was lucky to be saved by security guards, who stopped the incident from escalating.

Around 30 men initially harassed Khalid, shouting “hidup Pasir Salak”, and the incident turned violent after one of them fell in front of several Parliament security guards.

The rioters chased Khalid and the security guards managed to protect him from any untoward incidents.

Khalid said that he did not suffer any injuries as a result of the incident.

“They did not manage to touch me thanks to the four security officers who protected me well,” he said.

The attack is believed to be linked to Monday’s incident at the Dewan Rakyat, when Khalid called Pasir Salak MP Datuk Tajuddin Abdul Rahman ‘sial’.

Khalid added that a member of the rioters labelled himself as a son to Tajuddin.

“He said to me why did you call my father sial?” he said.

In a video of the incident, a man is seen shouting at Khalid stating that this was just the beginning.

Khalid and Tajuddin were involved in an argument at the Dewan Rakyat on Monday when the Pasir Salak MP sarcastically labelled Seputeh MP Teresa Kok as the only woman with a “Kok”.

An argument ensued and Khalid rose and called Tajuddin “sial” for not wanting to retract his words.

Tajuddin has also threatened to sue Khalid.
