SHAH ALAM, NOV 24: Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has alleged that the Umno-Barisan Nasional (BN) Government uses paid thugs to create chaos in order to declare that the country’s security is under threat.
He said in that way, the Federal Government can enforce the new security laws that give them power to arrest and detain anyone.
“If it was not for the police, the Red Shirts would have attacked the Yellow Shirts. But they were also scared when they saw tens of thousands of Yellow Shirts when there were merely less than one thousand of them.
“Arresting Yellow Shirt leaders did not cripple the spirit of their supporters. In fact, more of them joined the demonstration in of anger towards the government,” he said in an article entitled ‘Najib Kleptokrasi’ in the Chedet blog.
Tun Mahathir said that although Najib’s spokesman can try to belittle BERSIH 5, the Prime Minister cannot run from the fact that he is really hated by the rakyat.
He also urged Umno supporters and members to realise that Najib is the person responsible for destroying their party.
“Yes, billions of corrupted money will be used in the election, but no amount of money can buy the support of the rakyat who really hate Najib and Umno, MCA, MIC and also BN,” he said.
