KUALA LUMPUR, NOV 15: Seputeh Member of Parliament Teresa Kok was disappointed as Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli was sentenced to prison when the Sessions Court found him guilty of revealing the corruption in 1 Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB), as reported in the Auditor General’s report, in Dewan Rakyat.

She said that on the contrary, Sungai Besar Umno Chief Datuk Seri Jamal Md Yunos who openly incited violence, is still roaming free without any action taken against him.

“We observe that the institutions in Malaysia are indeed problematic. Pandan is sentenced for disclosing the Official Secrets Act (OSA), but OSA reports are under the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).

“We see Jamal roaming about everywhere. He does not get in trouble, even for inciting violence. But an MP speaking in the Dewan gets investigated by the police,” said Teresa in a debate session at the Dewan Rakyat on November 14.

Obviously, this incident affects the integrity of the parliamentary institution, police and judiciary which will ultimately affect the confidence of foreign investors.

Earlier, Pakatan leaders and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) had condemned the 18 months prison sentence on Rafizi for violating the OSA.
