SHAH ALAM, NOV 14: The high tide in five districts in the state is under control with water overflow at a minimum level.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department Assistant Director of Operations Mohd Sani Harul said that so far, only Batu 5, Kapar, Klang and Sabak Bernam were experiencing water overflow which had quickly subsided.
He said that this was due to the advanced and detailed preparation by many parties, especially the building of stronger bunds.
“So far, the situation is under control and the high tide phenomenon in Selangor is only affecting the population in Klang district,” he said when contacted by SelangorKini.
Meanwhile, only 144 people have been relocated to flood relief centres as at 8 am November 14.

A Selangor Disaster Operations Room spokesperson informed that 117 victims from 43 families have been placed at Kampung Tok Muda Multipurpose Hall, Kapar; while 27 other victims from four families were at Palembang Hall, Rantau Panjang, Klang.
“Up till now, the high tide phenomenon which hit as high as 5.5 metres along the coastal areas of Selangor has caused only residents in Klang to be relocated.
Relief centres in other districts, such as Sabak Bernam, have yet to be activated,” he said.
The high tide phenomenon, which is expected to last for five days starting today with water levels hitting as high as 5.6 metres, will affect several coastal areas in Selangor.
Two districts - Klang and Sabak Bernam - are classified as red zones or high risk areas to be hit by floods; while three other districts namely Kuala Selangor, Kuala Langat and Sepang are classified as yellow zones, being medium-risk areas.
Earlier, Selangor Disaster Management Unit Chairman Ahmad Fairuz Mohd Yusof said that the residents of Batu 5, Kapar were in a safe and control environment, following minimum water level overflow.
The broken bund in Batu 5, Kapar due to the previous high tides, had caused more than ten houses to be flooded.
