SHAH ALAM, NOV 11: The State Government is prepared to face the third high tide phenomenon which is expected to happen between November 14 and November 18.
The State Disaster Management Unit said in a statement that the predicted phenomenon will involve high tides of 5.6 metres and affect several areas in Klang, Kuala Langat, Sepang, Kuala Selangor and Sabak Bernam.
“The state government advises residents in risk areas to follow the instructions of the security officials and to take necessary measures.
“Residents are advised to register and move to nearby relief centres by this Sunday,” the statement said.
Two districts, Klang and Sabak Bernam are classified as red zone and high risk areas.
The areas affected include the coast of Kampung Tok Muda and Kampung Batu 5, Kapar and residents will be placed at Kampung Tok Merah Multipurpose Hal and the Jalan Palembang Multipurpose Hall, Kampung Rantau Panjang respectively.
For Sabak Bernam, all victims will be placed at the Dewan Sungai Air Tawar Relief Centre and will involve residents from Kampung Sungai Air Tawar and Kampung Tebuk Mendeling.
Kuala Selangor, Sepang and Kuala Langat districts have been placed in the middle risk yellow zone and six main residential areas will be affected.
Those areas are Pasir Penambang, Bagan Pasir, Pantai Remis, Pesisir Pantai Bagan Lalang, Pantai Kelanang and Pesisir Pantai Tanjung Sepat.
The state’s coastal areas have previously been affected by the high tide phenomenon in early and middle of September.
RM4.4 million has been allocated by the State Government through the Selangor Drainage and Irrigation Department as preparation to repair beach bunds previously.
