SHAH ALAM, NOV 9: The establishment of Institute Darul Ehsan (IDE) is one of the main efforts of the State Government to produce philosophical thinkers among the people of Selangor.

Dato’ Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin said that IDE has organised multiple research and intellectual programmes, such as Maqasid Syariah national seminar, with invited guest Chairman of Rabitah Jordan Scholar, Dr Abdul Rahman Al-Kailani.

He said IDE is also actively organising programmes that highlight philosophical values, such as the Za’ba Preacher seminar – Islamic Thinkers Throughout Time or ‘Pemikir Umat Merentas Zaman’.

“For the public, IDE has collaborated with the Selangor Public Library Corporation (PAS) to organise 30 book review programmes in public regional libraries, villages and communities across the state.

“The selected books are first examined for their contents to be meaningful and appropriate to the local communities,” he said at the Selangor State Assembly on November 9.

He said in answer to a question presented by Hulu Kelang Assemblyman Saari Sungib regarding the State Government’s efforts in building a highly philosophical society.

Mohamed Azmin said that the Selangor Enlightenment Project was also created to translate greatest works of the world to Malay language.

He said among translated works were biographies of world figures such as Abraham Lincoln and Gus Dur, who triggered the notion of high democratic thinking.

“To celebrate these efforts, we have provided an allocation of RM2 million to the IDE, Selangor Enlightenment Project (RM1 million), Malay Language and Literary Festival (RM1 million),” he said.
