SHAH ALAM, NOV 7: Contract civil servants will have a chance to be permanent staff after their duration of service exceeds 15 years.

Dato' Menteri Besar, Dato' Sri Mohamed Azmin Ali said the State Secretariat Human Resource Department has been dealing with the Civil Service Department (JPA) to get permanent staff status approval for contract workers.

“To absorb all contract positions is a State Government agenda, but it is subject to approval.

“However, early this year we have secured approval for those who have served more than 15 years to be switched to permanent staff that will be determined by the JPA.

“Besides this, civil servants with contract status besides those in the state secretariat will undergo review at local authority level,” he said during the state assembly sitting.

He was replying a question by Kota Anggerik Assemblyman Yaakob Sapari regarding the status of contract civil servants.

He added that the state government will consider bonuses and allowances to civil servants based on productivity increase.

“That is why allowance is given because they have worked hard to help increase state revenue,” he said.

In other developments, he said that Sri Andalas Assemblyman  Xavier Jayakumar to increase allowances every three years will be studied to see the state’s financial strength.

“In order to increase allowances and bonuses, the issue of productivity must be considered,” he said.
