SHAH ALAM, NOV 7: The State Government welcomes the proposal to reward individuals who offer information on sabotage of clean water supply.

Tourism, Environment, Green Technology and Consumer Affairs Exco Elizabeth Wong said that the proposal could be considered as there are efforts and help from the local community in offering information.

“As of now, there is no reward (appreciation) system. However, we do receive information from the public.

“They (residents) are the first to begin smelling and to see how contamination occurs.

“So for now, the proposal to reward the whistleblower is a good suggestion,” she said.

She answered a question by Sekinchan Assemblyman Ng Suee Lim who proposed that a reward system to be implemented generally to fight against water pollution in the state.

Previously, the State Government had to close a few water treatment plants in the state due to the emergence of alleged sabotage at Semenyih River and Buah River.

Meanwhile, the State Government has announced that they have obtained evidence of the alleged sabotage from a State Government agency, Selangor Water Management Authority (LUAS) and Air Selangor.
