KLANG, NOV 7: Klang Municipal Council (MPK), together with Selangor State Health Department (JKNS), had a joint food premise operation involving 67 outlets and 52 restaurants recently.
MPK Yang Di Pertua Datuk Mohamad Yasid Bidin said that four compounds were issued by MPK and 58 compounds by JKNS.
He said 14 premises were ordered to close for two weeks in accordance with Section 11 Food Act 1983 based on a number of offences.
He said among offences identified during the operation were the presence of rats, dirty premises, no TY2 injections, employees not attending health talks, no trash bins and not providing grease traps.
“The operation aims to ensure that food premises are clean and safe for the public, and also to prevent cases of food poisoning.
“MPK will not compromise on cleanliness as it involves the lives of the public,” he said in a statement.
At the same time, Yasid urged everyone to be vigilant on the latest issue of Grade A certificates being fraudulently issued for clean premises to food operators especially at the areas concerned.
He said that the fraudulent activities involved imposters claiming to be health officers and offering the certificates with specific payments.
“Operators of food premises are reminded to be vigilant and cautious if someone wants to conduct checks at their premises.
“Each MPK staff is labelled with an authority card bearing their names and carrying my signature. Furthermore, there is no charge for clean premise certificates,” he said.
