SHAH ALAM, NOV 4: Indian students in Universiti Selangor (UNISEL) increased by 20% since the year free fundamental programme through the Skim Derma Siswa was introduced at the university owned by the State Government.
UNISEL Vice-Chancellor, Professor Datuk Dr Mohammad Redzuan Othman, said the increase occurred when the opportunities for further education at UNISEL become more widely to all levels of society.
"There are groups that would like to further their studies but there is no opportunity to go to public universities while furthering their studies to private universities requires a lot of expenses.

"Now more students consider Unisel as the best option to further their studies," he said after attending the UNISEL 2016 Dewali Celebrations at the Pro Chancellor Hall, Shah Alam’s campus.
He said UNISEL will introduce the university among Indians and Chinese as one of the best options available to resume their studies.
He said that the racial diversity among students in UNISEL is an important asset that can leave a positive impression in the eyes of the people.
