SHAH ALAM, OCT 31: RM183.2 million has been allocated to continue the Free Water programme that was implemented in the state since 2008.

Dato' Menteri Besar, Dato' Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said the policy would be continued to satisfy the demands of Selangor citizens, especially in the rural areas.

“RM183.2 million has been allocated for the free water programme for 2017.

“The state government, however, urges that the free water be used conscientiously.

“Water is a precious resource and users should adopt water conservation practices,” he said while tabling the 2017 Selangor Budget at the Selangor State Legislative Assembly on October 31.

In the 2016 Budget, RM170 million was allocated for the Free Water Scheme.

Mohamed Azmin had previously said that the free water scheme for Selangor citizens for 2017 and the year after would involve a large allocation.

Since being implemented in 2008, Selangor citizens have enjoyed 20 cubic metres of free water that has benefited the target group of low income citizens.
