SEPANG, OCT 31: Badan Kawal Selia Air Negeri Sembilan, an enforcement agency under the jurisdiction of the Negeri Sembilan Government, allegedly refused to cooperate in addressing the water pollution issue in the state.

Tourism, Environment, Green Technology and Consumer Affairs Exco Elizabeth Wong said that this uncooperative action led to severe water pollution, with chemical compounds endangering the state’s water supply.

“Selangor Water Management Authority (LUAS), on the State Government’s behalf, contacted their director, inviting them to cooperate and solve this issue.

“However, we were truly disappointed with the agency’s attitude and belief that the water supply is for Selangor citizens. Thus Selangor is responsible in solving the issue.

“Their statement itself states that this is not their problem, and this really surprised us,” she said.

Wong said that solving the issue is the main priority, especially without being calculative, without any political sentiment and individual interest.

“There is no political agenda, it is a matter of the citizen’s health and lives. We were truly disappointed with the statement,” she said.

However, on behalf of the State Government, the agencies involve showed their utmost commitment in dealing with the problem since last week.

The contamination allegedly originated from Nilai, Negeri Sembilan, which extended to the Buah River water line and forced Semenyih Water Treatment Plant to ceased operations for cleaning.
