SHAH ALAM, OCT 5: Development projects of villages, mosques and educational institutions are among the main focus of Islamic Religious Affairs, Malay Customs & Heritage, Rural & Traditional Villages Development Exco Dato’ Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi in the 2017 budget.

Yunus said he expects a reasonable allocation to be provided for the development of villages, mosques and educational institutions.

“The role of a mosque is important and should be strengthened, as it can become a transformation centre for society with its diverse functions.

“Strengthening Muslim’s adherence to Ahlul Sunnah Wal Jamaah should also be reinforced through various programmes that will be planned,” he said to Selangorkini.

He said he also hopes the allocation given for the development of Islamic religious affairs, rural and traditional villages will be added based on current needs for advanced social and economic development.

Besides, he also wants the 2017 budget to take into consideration and prioritise aspects of safety, such as maintenance of and public amenities, including halls and stalls in villages.
