SABAK BERNAM, SEP 21: A total of RM3.5 million has been allocated to widen and raise the height of the 730 metre (M) barrier along Lang River.
Infrastructure, Public Amenities, Agricultural Modernisation and Agro-Based Industries Exco Zaidy Abdul Talib said the allocation covers the total contract cost including cost for research and design.
“Upgrading works on the barrier is expected to begin in October, upon closing of tender in September 2016.
“This project proves that the State Government always cares about the rakyat,” he said to SelangorKini.
On September 20, he surveyed several broken barriers at Air Tawar River.

Since September 18, the high tide phenomenon had caused floods in several seaside areas in Sepang, Kuala Langat, Klang, Kuala Selangor and Sabak Bernam.
The strong current had broken and destroyed several barriers.
The National Hydrography Centre recorded high tides in Kelang Port for the past few days.
On September 18, the water level was 5.6 metres. On September 19, the recorded level was 5.5 metres while on September 20, the water level recorded was 5.5 metres and 5.2 metres on September 21.
