SHAH ALAM, SEP 20: The Federal Government is urged to resolve the people’s housing problems and advised to stop attacking the Selangor Government on this issue.
Housing, Building Management and Urban Settlement Exco Dato’ Iskandar Abdul Samad said the ministry officer’s statement disputing the State Government’s housing policy was made without concrete facts.
“The statement issued by Datuk Johan Abdul Aziz, Special Tasks Officer for Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Minister, questioned the housing policy by the State Government and claimed that government agencies such as Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) is no longer building houses for the rakyat.
“He may have just been appointed to the post, and as such may not realise that PKNS was the first to build affordable housing located in Bandar Baru Bangi, which has been occupied since 2015.
“I would like to advise the ministry to focus on resolving the issue and to stop attacking the State Government,” he said in a media statement.

Previously, Johan was reported to have urged the Selangor Government to clarify the matter of transparency of the Rumah Selangorku policy.
Iskandar said that although the statement reflected that the ministry refusal to acknowledge the effectiveness of Rumah Selangorku policy, PRIMA’s request to take over one of the projects is testament that the government recognises the policy’s importance in resolving the housing issues faced by rakyat.
“In June, the Selangor State Government Executive Council Meeting had agreed to turn a Rumah Selangorku project by a private developer, into a PRIMA project and renamed it Selangorku PRIMA.
“There are over 20,000 units of Rumah Selangorku. As such, the State Government does not see it as an issue to release a small portion of the project to PRIMA. That project was in Cyber 11, Cyberjaya which consisted of 1,932 units of affordable houses.
“In reality, although many accusations were thrown at the State Government, the Federal Government still needs Rumah Selangorku in order to achieve their housing target,” he said.
