The auspicious date of September 16, 1963 is the realisation of the joint hopes to make Malaysia a sovereign country that is peaceful and prosperous.
Together with Sabah and Sarawak as federal partners, we renew our oath and promise with full awareness that the country was formed in the spirit of the Federal Constitution and the 1963 Malaysia Agreement.
This is in line with our founding fathers’ dreams and hopes of our nation’s leaders – the very same people who established our Federal Constitution.
Malaysia was formed on our constitution’s principles to ensure a fair distribution of power and economy, to liberate the rakyat from a colonial mentality and instil pride in every Malaysian citizen.
The state government will always extend its cooperation and remains committed to support every state’s position in the spirit of federalism.
And so I call upon the rakyat to understand the true meaning of the Malaysia Agreement of 1963.
May this noble intention realise the dreams and hopes of the rakyat to have a government that is fair and just to its people for the betterment of all.
