SICG champion Execration walks away with USD30,000

SHAH ALAM, SEP 14: The Execration Team from the Philippines won the Mineski Pro Gaming League (MPGL) Southeast Asia Championship at the Selangor International Cyber Games (SICG) 2016 held recently.

Execration beat MVP.Phoenix from South Korea, bagging home USD30,000 cash prize while MVP.Phoenix took home USD10,000.

Selangor Sports Council (MSN) Deputy Director Najwan Halimi said that a total of seven games were contested, and they were Mineski Pro Gaming League Southeast Asia Championship (Dota 2), League Legends, Hearthstone, Counter Strike, Street Fighter V, Fifa 16 and Clash Royal.

“The biggest game organised this time is the MPGL Southest Asian Championship with participation from 10 countries, including Thailand, Philipines, Indonesia, Singapore, Australia and the United States.

“In the League Legend contest, Mineski-x was the overall champion, taking home a cash prize of RM25,000 and a trophy,” he said

For the Counter Strike contest, MVP.Karnal emerged as champions, grabbing a cash prize of RM10,000. Meanwhile, Quah Ban Chuan won the Street Fighter V contest, taking home a RM5,000 cash prize.

Over 1,200 contestants competed for the prizes worth RM350,000 at the SICG 2016 organised by the State Government through MSN.

ICG was held for three days from September 9 to 11, at the One City Mall, Subang Jaya.
