SHAH ALAM, SEP 12: National Paralympic athlete Abdul Latif Romly has won Malaysia’s third gold at the Rio Paralympics when he defeated other competitors in the men’s long jump T20 event (intellectual disability) with a 7.60 m jump in his fifth attempt.

The athlete from Perlis didn't just break the world record once, he did it three times in his attempts with records 7.47m in his second jump and 7.54m in his third jump.

According to Astro Awani, his first jump was disqualifed, while the fourth only 6.79m.

At the Sukan Malaysia (Sukma) in Sarawak, Abdul Latif recorded a 7.46m jump, overcoming his previous best of 7.35m at the 2015 IPC Athletics World Championships at Doha.

He was among the athletes with gold medal prospects for Malaysia for this games.

Malaysia won its first gold in the 100m T36 event (cerebral palsy) courtesy of Mohamad Ridzuan Mohamad Puzi.

The second gold came from Muhammad Ziyad Zolkefli with a new world record in the shot putt F20 (learning disability).
