SHAH ALAM, SEP 7: The State Government has distributed 1,100 cows to 675 mosques and surau for the sacrificial ritual in conjunction with Aidiladha celebration 2016.
Dato’ Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said the programme by the State Government and Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) is not just an annual event as it carries great meaning through the direct involvement of State Government’s subsidiaries and other related parties.
“This year we have handed over 1,100 cows to 675 mosques and surau that perform Friday prayers, in all nine districts in Selangor.
“We hope programmes like this foster the spirit of sacrifice among leaders for the sake of Islam in this state,” he said.
He was speaking during the Majlis Penyerahan Sumbangan Lembu Sempena Sambutan Aidiladha peringkat Selangor 1437H/2016M on September 6.

He also mentioned the story of Prophet Ibrahim and his son Prophet Ismail’s sacrifice, who did not did not defy Allah’s orders; saying it should be an example and a guide to all to have the same level of ‘iman’ or faith and perform duties sincerely.
He said this effort is a good start for all parties in carrying out their worship of Allah.
“We are facing many challenges including socio-economic and leadership crisises and for me, we can rise above all these if we as Muslims unite and adhere to the principles according to Allah’s command.
“The Aidiladha celebration this year is a good opportunity for us to strengthen our relationship and brotherhood.
“Hopefully with this, we can better face and address the increasingly virulent challenges these days,” he said.
Also present were State Council Member Dato’ Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi and Zaidy Abdul Talib, State Secretary Dato’ Mohd Amin Ahmad Ahya, State Financial Officer Dato’ Noordin Sulaiman and JAIS Director Dato’ Haris Kasim.
The ceremony was also attended by Selangor Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI) Chief Executive Officer Soffan Affendi Aminudin and MBI Corporate Social Responsibility Head Mohd Jaafarudin Md Ali.
