KLANG, SEP 7: A Mega Dengue-Zika Operation will be carried out from September 13 to October 12 in an integrated approach across Selangor.

Klang Municipal Council (MPK) Secretary Adi Faizal Ahmad Tarmizi said the operation will involve all local authorities.

He said that the order came from the State Government, to effectively focus for one month to curb dengue and zika.

“The State Government has instructed local authorities, including MPK, to implement this operation for one month involving all residential and industrial areas.

“These cases have major implications on the people and need to be monitored, prevented and controlled as a whole,” he said in a media statement in Hotel Premiere.

Adi said that a total of 365 dengue cases have been reported throughout Klang in August and Kota Pandamar was the hotspot area with 23 cases for the month.

“Besides fogging, MPK has installed traps to track number of mosquitoes,” he said.

Meanwhile, MPK Health Department Director Azmi Muji said that fogging activities have been increased at houses of those infected including its surrounding areas within 200 metres.

“MPK also monitors and checks all the areas under its administration with the cooperation from the District Health Department.

“We have eight groups and 16 officers conducting the monitoring, prevention and controlling activities,” he said.
