SHAH ALAM, AUG 18: There are doubts regarding the sincerity of the Perumahan Rakyat 1 Malaysia (PR1MA) programme after allegations that the programme has failed to build housing projects in Selangor surfaced.
Housing, Building Management and Urban Settlement Exco Dato' Iskandar Abdul Samad said that PR1MA’s excuses were unacceptable as there was no evidence showing that the housing project was postponed due to high premiums.
“We asked PR1MA to provide specific cases. Which Projek Perumahan Rakyat (PPR) programme has been delayed due to premiums or is the local authorities’ bureaucracy really to blame?
“How many Planning Approval (PA) applications for PPR projects submitted to local authorities are yet to be approved? The answer to that is none,” he said to SelangorKini.
Iskandar said this in relation to PR1MA’s statement that claimed its housing project was not built due to the Selangor Government imposing high land premiums.
PR1MA also alleged that bureaucracy in various local authorities were the cause behind the delay in construction in Selangor, as well as the Light Rail Transit project by the Federal Government that caused the state government to raise land prices.
PR1MA has instead failed to deliver its promise to develop the Pandan Jaya, Pandan Indah and Chempaka LRT sites made two years ago, Iskandar said.

Worse, the parties involved have yet to send in their PA applications.
“The last time I met with PR1MA was in May, yet they have not applied till today,” he added.
He said that PR1MA had previously agreed to build 500 units of houses with prices ranging between RM42,000 and RM250,000.
“Although 500 units isn’t a large number, it will still fulfil the needs of the local population,” he said.
In June, the Selangor Government agreed to allow PR1MA to take over a Rumah Selangorku project from a private developer so that the agency could achieve its target.
The project in question, Cyber 11, Cyberjaya, involves 1,932 units of Rumah Selangorku that meet certain requirements.
