SHAH ALAM, AUG 9: The State Government has held discussions with Maqasid Insitute London, an institute of higher learning, on educational matters, ultimately contributing towards regional knowledge development.
Education, Human Capital Development, Science, Technology and Innovation Exco Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad said the discussions focused on potential collaborations involving institutes of higher learning in Selangor.
“Received courtesy call from Dr. Jasser Auda, Executive Director of Maqasid Institute in London, to discuss opportunities for cooperation,” he said on Twitter.
The meeting’s agenda was also focused on initiatives to make Universiti of Selangor (UNISEL) an academic institute serving as a Maqasid Syariah education centre.
In a related development, Dr Jasser also delivered the keynote address for Maqasid Dialogue, a programme organised by Academy of Young Intellectuals.
This program was coordinated by Education, Human Capital Development, Science, Technology and Innovation’s Meeting Committee.
Maqasid Syariah is one of the important pillars in Selangor in building maslahah (good) and preventing harm amongst the people.
The elements in constructing the Maqasid Syariah were drafted in line with the order of the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.
