SHAH ALAM, JUL 15: The recent growth of the textile industry in Bangi is well accepted by the public as it is capable of generating the local economy in this predominantly Muslim district.

Bangi State Assemblyman Shafie Ngah said that the area is designated as the second area after the ‘International Islamic Fashion City’ located at Seksyen 7, Shah Alam to serve as a focal point for anyone who wished to shop for textiles.

“Bangi residents welcome the presence of the many textile businesses here, especially those with an emphasis on Malay and Islamic outfits and clothes.

“Bangi has the potential and opportunity to grow in this industry, especially when you take into account the fact that this area has over 100,000 residents with the majority being Malay and Muslim,” he told Selangorkini.

At the same time, Shafie expressed his hope that businesses would be able to engage in healthy competition that will benefit the consumer, especially at a time when the prices of goods are increasing.

Bangi has gained popularity among Muslim fashion lovers as even more textile businesses that offer a variety of choices set up shop here.

Its growth and popularity has even attracted the attention of several artists to dabble in the textile business, including Noorkhiriah, Azza Elite and Lan Kristal, all of whom have launched their own brands.
