KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 5 — Allowing the import of completely built-up (CBU) cars with small engine capacity will lead to the dumping of such vehicles in the local market and hamper the government’s goal of developing the local automotive industry, said Deputy Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Liew Chin Tong.

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 19 — The import licence or approved permit (AP) system for motor vehicles must be maintained so that priority is given to the local industry in ensuring an inclusive automotive industry development in line with the aspirations of the National Automotive Policy 2020.

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 7 — The government has proposed to extend the import duty and excise exemptions for imported Complete Built-Up (CBU) electric vehicles (EVs) until December 31, 2024 to support the use of EVs, according to the Ministry of Finance (MOF).

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 30 — The Finance Ministry (MOF) yesterday announced the car sales tax exemption which is ending on December 31, has been extended for six months to June 30 2021.
