Nearly 500,000 people in Selangor receive first dose of Covid-19 vaccine

JERAM, June 7 — A total of 486,487 people in Selangor consisting of frontline workers and those at risk have received their first dose of Covid-19 vaccine, says state executive councillor for public health Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud.

She said out of that total 238,474 vaccines were administered to frontline workers, while 248,013 to senior citizens and the chronically ill.

"They will complete their two-dose vaccinations in the near future. Apart from that, I urge the people of Selangor who have yet to register for vaccination to do so immediately,” she said after visiting the free Covid-19 community screening at the Kampung Bukit Kuching Tengah Public Hall here today.

Earlier today, Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba announced on Twitter that a total of 1,130,301 individuals have completed the two-dose Covid-19 vaccination.

He said 2,444,075 individuals received the first dose, bringing the number of doses administered in Malaysia so far to 3,574,376.

Dr Adham said the five states with the highest number of two-dose vaccinations are Selangor with 145,972 doses followed by Sarawak (119,421); Perak (105,546); Kuala Lumpur (101,822); and Johor (98,429).
