SHAH ALAM, March 31 — KDEB Waste Management (KDEBWM) has carried out a cleaning operation to clear blocked drains in the Pandan Indah hawker area following urgent action by the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) to address potential public health and hygiene risks.
MPAJ said a field inspection by its Enforcement Department found that the drains in the area were dirty and clogged, which disrupted water flow.
“The condition could also encourage the breeding of mosquitoes and compromise the cleanliness of the surrounding environment. As a result, cleaning work was undertaken to ensure the drainage system functions properly and to provide a cleaner and safer environment for the public,” the council said in a Facebook post.
At the same time, MPAJ advised traders and members of the public not to dispose of waste into the drains to prevent similar problems from recurring.
The council emphasised that continuous monitoring and enforcement actions will be intensified to ensure that the area remains clean, safe, and well maintained.
Members of the public can also submit complaints or provide information regarding drainage issues through MPAJ’s SISPAA system or via the hotline provided by the council.
