MBSJ launches AI-powered SENSA to improve pedestrian safety

SHAH ALAM, March 2 — The Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) has launched the artificial intelligence-based Smart Sensor Awareness (SENSA) to improve pedestrian safety, especially in high-risk areas.

The local authority said the system can automatically detect pedestrians and sound a real-time audio and visual warning to drivers and pedestrians.

“It is also equipped with 24-hour camera surveillance to support safety and prevent crime.

“SENSA integrates smart AI analytical cameras, horn speakers, and blue LEDs as a clear and effective visual signal to improve road users’ alertness,” MBSJ said in a Facebook post.

MBSJ said the pilot system has been installed at the SMK Puchong Permai pedestrian crossing, and will be expanded in stages to other strategic locations under its jurisdiction.

“Its solar-energy use is in line with our aspirations to develop a smart city and our commitment to a low-carbon city,” the council added.
