SHAH ALAM, June 25 — The Selangor Covid-19 Vaccination Programme (SCVP), which includes inoculating workers in the manufacturing sector, is aimed to help the state’s recovery process.

In an interview with The Star, state executive councillor for investment Dato’ Teng Chang Khim said the immunisation plan is initiated to help in reviving Selangor’s economy.

“This will substantially reduce the risk of workers getting infected and it would be less restrictive for production operations to return to capacity.

“Factories can also return to their previous capacities as soon as a substantial number of their employees have been vaccinated,” Teng was quoted by the English daily in a report today.

Teng said the state is still formulating an exit plan that would include the number of workers that will be receiving the vaccine in every company.

“In order to know how many people should be vaccinated in a single establishment, we have to first find out how fast the vaccination process can be carried out,” he said Teng.

On June 28, Selgate Healthcare Sdn Bhd (Selgate) will kick-start the SCVP with the launch of more than 20 vaccination centres (PPVs).

Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari had on June 9 said the SCVP is to complement the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK) in accelerating efforts to achieve herd immunity among the state’s population.

He said the state government together with the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) and the Health Ministry (MOH) would discuss the plan and adjust the vaccine recipient data in line with the national programme.
