SHAH ALAM, Dec 4 — The Selangor E-Bazar 11.11 Mega Sales online shopping campaign, which was scheduled to end on November 26, has been extended until December 15.
Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the decision was made following a huge demand on the campaign organised by Selangor Information Technology and E-Commerce Council (Sitec).
“We hope that the additional 12 more days will help to maintain the campaign’s momentum and create the projected ripple effect of RM681 million in the economy out of the RM1.9 million vouchers,” he said in a Twitter post today.
Amirudin said 68,724 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and micro-entrepreneurs had benefitted from the campaign since the programme was introduced via the Shopee and Lazada e-commerce platform.
He added that the programme has digitalised 14,806 new entrepreneurs, surpassing the initial target of 10,000.
“The state government believe the incentive programme will continue to empower entrepreneurs and prepare them to stay resilient in the post-Covid-19 market, and thus help in making the digitalisation agenda outlined in the 2021 Selangor Budget a success,” he said.
The Selangor E-Bazar 11.11 Mega Sales which started on October 26 had allocated RM2 million to help entrepreneurs affected by the pandemic.
The programme aims to encourage the SME sector to adapt to the digitalisation of businesses by allocating the two e-commerce platforms with RM1 million subsidised vouchers.
