GOMBAK, March 8 — Selangor’s rapid development and growing inflow of investments do not sideline vulnerable groups, as various initiatives continue to be strengthened to safeguard their welfare.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said that alongside encouraging economic achievements, the state government remains attentive to groups that require support and assistance.
“We are pleased to continue programmes on welfare, development and well-being. Just a few days ago, it was announced that Selangor recorded the second-highest investment total in Malaysia.
“From these investments, we create job opportunities. Up until September alone, we have created more than 43,000 jobs for the people.
"However, for the state government, we are not satisfied with this alone because we know that even with development and incoming investments, there are still those who need support.
“That is why in the last budget, the state government announced the BINGKAS Plus (BINGKASAN) assistance, because there are people who may suddenly face problems, lose their jobs and fall into hardcore poverty.”
He said this when speaking at the Aidilfitri contribution handover ceremony by Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated), or MBI, for the Gombak Setia state constituency at Dewan Beringin, Taman Seri Gombak, here today.
At the event, 1,500 vulnerable individuals received Aidilfitri contributions totalling RM750,000.
The handover ceremony was officiated by Amirudin at three locations today. Apart from Dewan Beringin, the two other locations were Masjid At-Taqwa Selayang Baru and the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) multipurpose hall in AU5.
In the 2026 Selangor Budget, Amirudin announced that the state government would introduce a new special initiative known as BINGKASAN, with an allocation of RM5 million.
He said the total allocation for BINGKAS and BINGKASAN stands at RM103 million. BINGKAS offers RM300 per month for 24 months for essential goods, medications and educational supplies.
