SHAH ALAM, Mar 6 — Selangor has secured RM83.9 billion in investments in 2025, reflecting the state’s continued focus on attracting high-quality projects that deliver long-term economic benefits.

State executive councillor for investment, trade, and mobility Ng Sze Han said the state government prioritises investments that generate strong spillover effects for the local economy rather than simply chasing headline figures.

“Our priority has never been about chasing numbers alone, but about attracting investments that create real and lasting impact.

“We seek projects that generate strong spillover effects for our local economy, create high-quality jobs, strengthen our industrial ecosystem, and drive innovation and technology transfer.

“Most importantly, we welcome partners who are committed to growing together with Selangor in the long term,” he said in a statement today.

Ng also expressed appreciation to the main agencies that supported the state’s investment ecosystem, including the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), Invest Selangor Bhd, and the Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation (Sidec).

He said their continued efforts have helped strengthen Selangor’s position as a leading investment destination in the country.

The state government will continue working with Federal and state agencies to strengthen Selangor’s investment ecosystem and drive further economic growth.

According to the Malaysia Investment Performance Report 2025 published by MIDA today, Malaysia recorded RM285.2 billion in approved investments for the first nine months of 2025, representing a 13.2 per cent increase year-on-year compared with the same period in 2024.

The services sector accounted for the largest share at RM187.9 billion (65.9 per cent), followed by manufacturing at RM93.8 billion (32.9 per cent) and the primary sector at RM3.5 billion (1.2 per cent).

During the first nine months of 2025, Johor recorded the highest approved investments at RM91.1 billion, followed by Selangor (RM51.9 billion), Kuala Lumpur (RM45.9 billion), Penang (RM23.7 billion), and Kedah (RM17.5 billion).
