KUALA LUMPUR, March 4 — The Economy Ministry will hold a coordination meeting with Petronas, Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) and the Finance Ministry (MOF) to discuss the impact of the United States-Iran conflict on Malaysia’s economy.
Economy Minister Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir said the government does not want to start discussions from scratch, but instead wants to determine decisions that need to be made if the conflict continues.
“God willing, I will continue to provide updates on any developments. We will try to minimise the impact on the people as well as small traders,” he said on X today.
In the early hours of February 28, Israel and the US launched airstrikes on targets in Iran.
Tehran retaliated by targeting US military bases and logistical facilities in several Arab countries, resulting in widespread airspace restrictions across the region.
