SHAH ALAM, March 4 — Ninety support staff at the State Secretariat Building received Jom Shopping Aidilfitri vouchers today, as part of the Selangor government’s efforts to ease their burdens in preparing for Aidilfitri.
The recipients comprise cleaning workers and technical support staff, including drivers. Each received vouchers worth RM200, bringing the total allocation for the programme to RM12,600.
The handover ceremony was officiated by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari after a State Economic Action Council (MTES) meeting today.
Amirudin said the assistance follows special approval by the Selangor administration to ensure support staff are not left out of festive aid disbursements, in recognition of their contributions to the state.
“In previous years, we typically handed out aid in the form of food baskets. For this year, we decided to give RM200 vouchers to offer them the flexibility to buy goods based on their respective needs and preferences,” he said.
Amirudin expressed hope that the initiative would continue in the future as a sign of the state government’s concern for the welfare of lower-ranking staff, who form the backbone of government facilities management.
“We hope that through this contribution, they will be able to celebrate Aidilfitri more joyfully with their loved ones.”
The programme was coordinated by the Selangor Human Resources, Poverty Eradication, and Orang Asli and Minority Affairs Committee, chaired by Papparaidu Veraman.
