SHAH ALAM, March 4 — The Petaling Jaya City Council’s (MBPJ) Ramadan On Wheels@PJ recycling initiative visited Pangsapuri Idaman yesterday.
According to the council, the programme received encouraging response, with hundreds of residents bringing recyclables to exchange with iftar dishes.
“Through this programme, residents can exchange recyclables like plastic and tins with iftar dishes based on the weight of their items.
“The redemption is for packed meals to ensure aid can be channelled to eligible recipients immediately,” MBPJ said in a Facebook statement.

The local authority said Ramadan On Wheels@PJ was scheduled for six locations in the city, with Pangsapuri Idaman being the third stop after Pangsapuri Baiduri and Pangsapuri Gugusan Semarak.
Through this programme, 160 recipients at each location get to enjoy iftar meals sponsored by Restoran Syed Bistro and Restoran Original Penang Kayu Nasi Kandar.
Previously, the redemption session was officiated by MBPJ Zone 1 councillor Suriase Gengiah with MBPJ Business and Entrepreneur Development Licensing Department director Sharinaz Samsudin.
“This initiative not only lightens the community’s burdens during Ramadan, but encourages Petaling Jaya residents to practise a shared responsibility to recycle,” MBPJ said.
On February 25, Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin launched Ramadan On Wheels@PJ.
