SHAH ALAM, March 3 — Two hundred asnaf children in Pandan Indah received shopping vouchers to buy Aidilfitri clothes at Jakel Mall on Sunday, said state executive councillor for infrastructure and agriculture Dato’ Izham Hashim.
The Pandan Indah assemblyman said the children were given the opportunity to choose their own “baju Raya”.
“I was overjoyed to greet 200 asnaf children (on Sunday morning) from the Pandan Indah state constituency during the Jom Shopping Baju Raya @ Jakel event.
“The children received vouchers worth RM200 contributed by the Selangor Utility Corridor (KUSEL) and an additional RM60 (each) from Jakel,” he wrote on Facebook.
Izham said the children’s joy was painted on their faces as they shopped for new clothes to wear on the first morning of Syawal.
“Their smiles showed how meaningful this opportunity (for them to) celebrate Aidilfitri. Thank you to KUSEL and Jakel for this contribution.
“May this effort bring grace and blessing to all,” Izham added.
The event is among the state’s welfare initiatives to help the asnaf community with preparations for Aidilfitri.
