WAJAR members express gratitude for Aidilfitri Special Incentive

SHAH ALAM, Feb 28 — The Selangor Journalists and Photographers Association (WAJAR) today expressed its gratitude to the state government for the KitaSelangor Aidilfitri Special Incentive (IKSA) of RM1,000 for each of its members.

It said the contribution is a meaningful one as it would help its members with Raya preparations.

The group also expressed gratitude to Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, who is WAJAR patron, for his attentiveness to media practitioners’ roles in delivering true, ethical and credible news.

WAJAR president Norrasyidah Arshad said 71 members are eligible for IKSA, adding that as some of them are part-timers, the contribution brings them relief ahead of Aidilfitri.

“It is a recognition of Selangor media practitioners’ roles and contributions in delivering accurate, credible and transparent information to the people,” she said in a statement.

“WAJAR is committed to boost journalistic professionalism and ensure each report we produce adhere to journalistic ethics and principles for the interests of the people and development of the state.

“The state government’s continued support is a recognition of the media’s role as a strategic partner in state development.

“WAJAR is committed to abide by journalistic integrity principles and play a role in building an informed, thriving community,” Norrasyidah said.

WAJAR was established in July last year with an aim to ensure the welfare of media practitioners in Selangor.

WAJAR was the last state reporters’ association registered under the Malaysian Media Club Coalition, is overseen by the Communications Ministry, and is registered with the Malaysian Media Council.

Yesterday, Amirudin announced that the IKSA for this year, totalling RM66.25 million, would benefit over 72,000 recipients statewide ahead of Aidilfitri.
