KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 27 — His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, is unwell due to musculoskeletal pain in the back and hips.
In a statement today, Istana Negara said His Majesty has been advised by medical experts to rest and refrain from attending official engagements to allow for proper treatment and recovery.
“Due to His Majesty undergoing follow-up treatment, he was unable to attend the breaking of fast ceremony with the Prime Minister, Cabinet members, heads of Foreign Delegations and senior government officials at Istana Negara yesterday,” the statement said.
Istana Negara also announced that the opening ceremony of the Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM) Sultan Ibrahim Mosque, which was scheduled for yesterday, has been postponed to a later date.
The King expressed his intention to resume official duties as soon as His Majesty’s health improves.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim sent well wishes to the King.
“Praying that His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim is granted enduring health and remains under God’s protection, mercy and care,” Anwar posted on Facebook.
