HULU SELANGOR, Feb 26 — The Chery car assembly factory in Lembah Beringin, which is set to start operating by June, is now 40 per cent built, said Hulu Selangor district officer Yuhanas Auree Kamaruddin.

He said the RM3 billion investment by the Chinese automotive firm is expected to create 3,000 jobs for Malaysians.

“This development will transform the Lembah Beringin city regrowth landscape that has been long delayed. Developers will also build a 6km main road from the project site to the Lembah Beringin toll for local residents’ convenience,” he said in his speech at a break-fast event with Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah, held at the Sungai Tengi Mosque here, today.

Yuhanas added that the Hulu Selangor Municipal Council (MPHS) has activated the Hulu Selangor District Local Plan (Amendment 2) 2035 to ensure development plans are comprehensive and so Lembah Beringin is prepared to receive future investments.

“The amendment proposal is important to ensure early planning can be done to provide downstream industry needs that would grow from the Chery assembly factory’s opening,” Yuhanas said.
