SUBANG JAYA, Feb 16 — The Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) has recorded 512 dengue cases as of epidemiological week seven in 2026, said its mayor Dato’ Amirul Azizan Abd Rahim.
He said this shows a 3.51 per cent increase compared with 494 cases reported during the same period last year.
“Control and prevention measures are being carried out intensively together with the Petaling District Health Office, including inspections to eliminate breeding sites, larviciding, and fogging in areas with reported cases,” he said during the MBSJ full board meeting at its headquarters, today.
Amirul said the council has identified five hotspot areas for the week, namely USJ5/1, USJ14 (Subang Perdana Goodyear Court 7), SS17/1, USJ1 (Pangsapuri Meranti, Blocks K and J) and Taman Pinggiran USJ2.
He said public awareness programmes on dengue are also ongoing in high-risk localities, stressing the necessity of prompt medical attention.
Amirul also urged residents to take personal precautions to destroy potential Aedes mosquito breeding grounds, especially ahead of festive seasons, through initiatives such as the ‘10 minutes a day’ campaign and community clean-up activities.
“If anyone experiences dengue symptoms, they are advised to seek treatment immediately to effectively curb the spread of the disease,” he said.
