SABAK BERNAM, Feb 21 — Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah today visited Asrama Kebajikan Anak-Anak Yatim Miskin Sekendi here to present residents with Aidilfitri aid and funds to upgrade the welfare home.
His Highness arrived at 12.30pm and was greeted by state executive councillor for Islam and innovation Dr Fahmi Ngah, state executive councillor for rural development and unity Datuk Rizam Ismail, and Yayasan Islam Darul Ehsan (YIDE) chairman Tan Sri Mazlan Mansor.
During the event, the Raja Muda gave a sarong, batik cloth and Raya money to the orphans ahead of Aidilfitri, and handed over 100kg of rice to the home.

Tengku Amir Shah witnessed the handover of a mock cheque from YIDE’s synergy partner, the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS), worth RM100,000 for the home to build a hall.
Selangor Wakaf Corporation also channelled RM41,000 for upgrades to the surau, including carpeting replacement, while Rizam, who is also Sungai Air Tawar assemblyman, funded road-paving works from the main road to the home.
Tengku Amir Shah then listened to a Ramadan takzirah by Selangor Deputy Mufti Dato’ Miszairi Sitiris before performing Zohor prayers and leaving at around 2.30pm.
Mazlan, in his speech, said the event reflects the Royal institution and state government’s continuous commitment to ensure the welfare of needy groups, especially orphans.
“It is hoped that this contribution can cheer up and lift the spirits of these children in welcoming Syawal, and allow them a chance to live a more comfortable life and build a brighter future,” he said.

Meanwhile, according to a YIDE statement, the welfare home that was built in 1985 on a 1.6ha plot of land is among 35 orphanages registered under the foundation.
It was founded by the late Hayat@Abdul Latif Syukor and is now led by Ahmad Bustamam Abd Latiff to protect and educate orphans and poorer children around Sabak Bernam.
In 1995, Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Alhaj visited the orphanage, reflecting the Royal institution's continuous attentiveness towards orphan welfare in Selangor.
