SHAH ALAM, Feb 18 — Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin today visited the two victims who were injured here on Monday when their car was crushed by a fallen tree.

Her Royal Highness was greeted upon arrival at Shah Alam Hospital by its director Dr Ruzita Othman, University Teknologi MARA (UiTM) deputy chancellor Prof Datuk Shahrin Sahib@Sahibuddin and Shah Alam Deputy Mayor Safriah Md Adzhar.

Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, who was clad in a baju kurung, spent half an hour chatting with both victims and presented them with gifts.

Shahrin said the two women, who are UiTM Faculty of Chemical Engineering lecturers, are recovering well.

“Thank God, both of them are healthy. We are grateful as the treatment and recovery has been quite quick, as there were no serious or excessive injuries.

“I was informed that if they continue to improve, they will be discharged in a few days. Maybe this too is a blessing as Ramadan approaches,” he told reporters.

Shahrin added that both victims will undergo light physiotherapy from tomorrow to help with mobility, while nerve recovery is expected to take up to three months.

On the fallen tree incident, Shahrin said both victims had just left a faculty meeting to have lunch nearby.

“We accept God’s will. We sympathise with the challenge, and there must be a lesson. We pray that they are patient and recover soon,” he said.

In the 12.11pm incident on Monday, the victims, Nur Shahidah Ab Aziz, 39, dan Shareena Fairuz Abdul Manaf, 42, were injured when their vehicle was crushed by a fallen tree on Persiaran Tun Arshad Ayub in Section 7 here.

Following the incident, the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) activated an emergency audit to check mature trees around Section 7 and appoint accredited arborists to perform technical inspections.
