SHAH ALAM, Feb 5 — University Selangor (UNISEL) is looking to empower its practical training programme with SELGATE Corporation Sdn Bhd to strengthen the state’s higher learning and health services ecosystem.

UNISEL Health Sciences Faculty dean Mohd Sharikh Dali Mahad said the recommendation is in final talks with the state government, with implementation to employ the Selangor Future Guaranteed Employment Programme (SELFA-GEP) module.

“SELFA-GEP is an ecosystem complement to the training and preparation of skilled health workers through the Selangor Frontliner Apprenticeship Programme (SELFA),” he told Media Selangor.

Sharikh added that 55 students are set to benefit from the programme, which would allow them to further their studies at the diploma level at UNISEL.

He said the students will receive a monthly allowance of RM1,000 throughout their studies, free accommodation and transport, and guaranteed employment in Selangor for five years.

“Students involved are from the nursing, physiotherapy, medical laboratory technology, and medical imaging fields. We are looking to start the programme as soon as April,” he explained.

The state government, under the 2026 Selangor State Budget, announced an allocation of RM4.74 million for UNISEL medical programmes, with a focus on practical training with SELGATE.

Participants of the three-year programme will be bound to a five-year service term with the SELGATE Specialist Hospital network to empower higher education and the state’s health services.

SELGATE Corporation set up its first hospital, SELGATE Specialist Hospital Rawang, in October, offering various specialist and diagnostic services.

Located on Persiaran Anggun Ria in Rawang, the hospital was built on a 2.42ha site with 500 parking bays, and accommodates 224 beds.
