Dr Mahathir admitted to IJN after fall at home

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 6 — Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was admitted to the National Heart Institute (IJN) here at 9.30am today after a fall at his home in the morning.

This was confirmed by his press secretary Sufi Yusoff via a message on the “Dr M Media Updates” WhatsApp group today.

Sufi said the 100-year-old statesman was taken to IJN by ambulance and was reportedly conscious.

“He had a fall early this morning, and normally that requires observation in hospital. He fell (while moving) from one part of the balcony to the living room, as I was made to understand,” he said.

Sufi said an update on Dr Mahathir’s condition will be provided after examinations by IJN specialists.

The former prime minister was previously treated at IJN on July 13 last year due to fatigue, but was discharged the same day.
