SHAH ALAM, Jan 5 — Phase 1 of the Rahmah Cash Contribution (STR), worth up to RM500, will start being credited to eligible recipients from January 20.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said for the Basic Contribution Appreciation (Sara) programme, monthly payments of up to RM200 will be credited starting as early as January 9.
“The implementation of the RM100 Sara payment last year saw high usage, with 96 percent of the allocation — amounting to RM2.1 billion — spent by Malaysians on basic necessities,” he said.
He made the remarks during his 2026 New Year message at a gathering with staff of the Prime Minister’s Department (JPM) in Putrajaya today.
