Ex-South Korean first lady to face prosecutors after arrest

SEOUL, Aug 13 — Former South Korean first lady Kim Keon Hee will face questioning by special prosecutors tomorrow, following her arrest earlier this week over multiple corruption allegations, Yonhap news agency reported.

The special counsel team said she was summoned to its KT Gwanghwamun West office in central Seoul at 10am for her first questioning since her arrest late yesterday on charges of stock manipulation, election meddling, and bribery.

A Seoul court issued a pre-trial detention warrant citing concerns she could destroy evidence, making Kim and her husband, former president Yoon Suk-yeol, the first former presidential couple to be detained simultaneously.

Hours before the warrant was issued, she was moved to the Seoul Nambu Detention Centre in southwestern Seoul, where Kim was placed in a solitary cell.

She underwent standard intake procedures, including a physical examination and mug shots in a khaki prison uniform.

The special counsel team said Kim has indicated she will comply with tomorrow's summons.
