KUALA SELANGOR, July 29 — High population density has been identified as one of the contributing factors to the rise in crime cases in several of Selangor's major districts, including Kajang, Gombak, and Klang.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the large population with diverse backgrounds requires serious attention in terms of public safety and social management.
“This data is constantly evolving, but we must examine the contributing factors and take appropriate follow-up measures to address them.
“Population density inevitably invites such issues, as we are welcoming people from various walks of life,” he said.
However, Amirudin stressed that the security situation in the state remains under control, thanks to the efficiency of the police force in carrying out its duties.
“I would like to express my gratitude to the police officers, as despite the occurrence of crime, the authorities are still able to maintain stability and peace in Selangor,” he said.
He was speaking to the press after officiating the Selangor Dato' Menteri Besar's Cup Marching Competition for Uniformed Bodies, held at Universiti Selangor's Bestari Jaya campus today.
During the Agenda Awani talk show last night, former Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan revealed that Kajang, Gombak, and Klang are the top three districts which recorded the highest number of crime cases among the 16 districts in the state, with Kajang currently at the first spot.
