MACC signs deal with global anti-graft academy to curb international corruption

KUALA LUMPUR, July 11 — The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) signed a letter of intent (LOI) with the International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA) to explore new opportunities in corruption prevention at the international level.

The commission said that the LOI was signed here yesterday by MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki and IACA deacon Prof Slagjana Tasevayang.

Azam was quoted as saying at the signing that the commission and IACA could work together using their expertise, especially in capacity building and the ability to combat corruption, adding that the commission was confident that the signing would allow MACC officers and regional partners to benefit from global expertise, academic resources and the IACA’s network of professionals.

“The global technological advancements also bring new change, where there exists transnational corruption, complex financial crime and sophisticated digital threats.

“With such complex developments, no agency or country can stand on its own,” he added.

IACA adviser Tan Sri Abu Kassim Mohamed; Malaysian Anti-Corruption Academy senior director Datuk Mohd Hafaz Nazar, and MACC policy, planning and research division director Rasidah Abdul Karim were present at the signing.
