Lead levels in LA air exceeds norm by 100 times: Reports

MOSCOW, Jan 21 — Lead levels in the air in Los Angeles exceeded the norm by 100 times due to fires, while chlorine levels increased by 40 times, reported Sputnik/RIA Novosti, citing The New York Times yesterday.

Multiple wildfires have broken out in California on January 7, killing at least 27 people, forcing the evacuation of tens of thousands, and destroying more than 12,300 buildings, including celebrity homes.

According to US weather forecasting service AccuWeather estimates, damage and economic loss from the wildfires may reach between US$250 billion and US$275 billion (RM1.1 billion and RM1.2 billion).
