SHAH ALAM, Jan 4 — A Pasar Saloma-themed food festival, aimed at showcasing traditional and popular dishes, is scheduled to take place in Shah Alam at the end of this month.
State executive councillor for housing and culture Datuk Borhan Aman Shah said that among the foods to be sold at the festival, jointly organised with the Shah Alam City Council, are nasi ambeng, punten, sate, pecal, and wadai kipeng.
"This effort to promote traditional foods aims to introduce them to the younger generation. At the same time, we will also feature viral and trendy dishes. We are diversifying the menu to give the public plenty of choices.
"The date for this event is being finalised. We propose that the multi-day festival be held during the school holidays to make it easier for parents to bring their families.
"This initiative is also part of our efforts to attract tourists to the state in conjunction with Visit Selangor Year 2025," he said to SelangorKini yesterday.
Last month, the state government organised the Selangor Heritage Food Festival 2024 at Pantai Bagan Lalang, which is set to continue in Kuala Selangor this year.
Previously, sate Kajang and nasi ambeng were also declared the state's heritage foods.
