KUANTAN, Dec 21 — RM8 million has been allocated next year to implement student development programmes in Selangor, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
According to him, the cost includes funds for the nationwide #KitaSelangor Students Roadshow to raise awareness of the state’s initiatives, including book vouchers and free internet data.
“We will also promote aid from the Selangor Public Library Corporation for students, such as the Selangor Technology Essentials Loan Scheme, or Sepintas.
“The state will also continue the free bus programme to bring Selangor youth home for Hari Raya. We currently have plane ticket subsidies (for students in) Sabah and Sarawak (FLYSiswa), so we will look into it,” he said.
He was speaking at a dialogue with higher learning students during the #KitaSelangor Students Roadshow at Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah today.
He added that the allocation will also be used for skills and training programmes for students.
Amirudin also reminded students to act as part of their communities and be aware of current developments, to boost social connectivity and encourage their interpersonal interactions.
“You need to be active in societies to shape your humanity,” he told students. “It’s not just about reading or listening to speeches, but about the need for human connection.”
